Georgian para taekwondo athletes Ana Japaridze and Giorgi Nikoladze on Friday gained first-ever licences for this year’s Summer Paralympic Games in Paris by earning results at the European Qualification Tournament.
Japaridze defeated Britain’s Keira Forsythe in the semi-finals, while in the final she won against the Russian athlete Anna Poddubskaia, who competed under the neutral status in the competition.
Nikoladze won the final against his Polish opponent Maciej Kesicki with a score of 48-19, after he eliminated Gabriel Amado Garagarza of Spain in the semifinals.
The Paralympic Games are scheduled to run between August 28 to September 8.
